Thy Will Be Done

"Pater noster qui es in caelis:
sanctificetur Nomen Tuum;
adveniat Regnum Tuum;
fiat voluntas Tua,
sicut in caelo, et in terra.
Panem nostrum cotidianum da nobis hodie;
et dimitte nobis debita nostra,
sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris;
et ne nos inducas in tentationem;
sed libera nos a Malo."

"Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen."

The thing that most people do not realize as they pray to God is that "thy will be done." This hardly means that everything that you pray for will be granted, but that every prayer is a simple request to God. God's will is ultimately what decides what prayers are granted and not. It takes a lot to realize this simple fact. God's will is the ultimate decider. Thy will be done will always be above self interest.
